Thomasina Valentine

“When you help, you see life as weak.  When you fix it, you see life as broken. When you serve, you see life as a whole. Fixing and helping may be the work of the ego, and service the work of the soul.” – Rachel Naomi Remen

Thomasina Valentine holds an impressive array of degrees and certifications, reflecting her dedication to education and service. She earned a B.S. in Business Management from Hampton University, completing a 12-month co-op with Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies in Pennsylvania and subsequently working for the organization in New Jersey upon graduation. She later earned an M.S. in Human Resource Management from Troy State University, followed by an M.Div. in Theology from the Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University, along with a Pastoral Care Specialist Certificate. While enrolled in a dual program, she also completed an M.S. in Patient Counseling at the Medical College of Virginia at Virginia Commonwealth University. Additionally, she earned an M.S. in Professional Rehabilitation Counseling from the same institution.

Thomasina achieved her independent License in Professional Counseling (LPC) in Virginia in December 2011 and became an Approved Clinical Supervisor in March 2014, refreshing this credential in October 2024. By December 2025, she plans to fulfill the requirements for an independent License in Marriage & Family Therapy. Her professional development also includes service in the U.S. Army Reserves, completing four Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) units, and fulfilling Employee Assistance Program (EAP) advisory hours.

With nearly 35 years of counseling experience across a variety of settings—including church, community, corporate environments, hospitals, integrated primary care, jails, private practice, and adjunct teaching—Thomasina’s ministry transcends the traditional pulpit.
