Chaplain
As the Chaplain for Volunteers of America Chesapeake & Carolinas, Rev. Jules Christian is responsible with leading and guiding the organization to keep its spiritual focus, provide spiritual and emotional support, strengthen and expand faith and community partnerships, and oversee the Ministry team of our church without walls.
Chaplain Jules started with VOA Chesapeake & Carolinas in June of 2022. She has reached across the Chesapeake & Carolinas affiliate’s regions and housing, health and human services programs to inspire and integrate ministry opportunities at all levels of the organization. In this post pandemic era, Chaplain Jules has brought hybrid worship and educational opportunities to staff, persons served, and the community at large.
Chaplain Jules has served in ministries, mission-driven organizations and non-profit organizations for the past 25 years. She has served as the Associate Pastor of Youth in Greensboro, North Carolina; Chaplain at Saint Elizabeth’s Psychiatric Hospital in the District of Columbia; and Staff Chaplain at Holy Cross Health in Silver Spring and Germantown, MD.
Chaplain Jules is originally from North Carolina and moved to the DMV area in 2015. She received her master’s degree in theology from Life Christian University, is a certified Chaplain, and is ordained in the Non-Denominational Christian tradition. She is an active member of her church in the District of Columbia, an advocate for social justice, as well as an author, speaker, and spiritual counselor. Chaplain Jules strongly believes in spreading God’s message of love and wholeness, in spirit, soul and body. She and her dog Cocoa, reside in Falls Church, Virginia.
