Neisha Christine Himes is an award-winning and nationally recognized activist and motivational speaker. After leaving a 5-year long abusive relationship, Neisha began telling her story years later via her gift of spoken word, and to date uses her talent as a method of bringing awareness. In August 2016, she founded G.R.O.W. (Girls Recognizing Our Worth) Foundation, a 501c3 non-profit organization assisting domestic violence survivors with rebuilding their lives after abuse. To learn more about victims’ rights and navigating the legal system, Neisha served as a Victim Advocate for the Norfolk Commonwealth Attorney’s Office, and later joined forces with the Newport News Police Department as their Domestic Violence Outreach Liaison, playing a vital role in the inspiration and creation of the agency’s first Domestic Violence Unit.
Since G.R.O.W’s inception, Neisha, who is proudly certified by the National Advocate Credentialing Program (NACP) as an advanced-level advocate, has received numerous local and national accolades for her advocacy work and relentless activism, including the “Inspire A Difference-Hero of the Month” Award from Investigation Discovery, the “Voices In Action-Survivor Activist” Award from the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, and the “Survivor of the Year” Award from DomesticShelters.Org. To enact change on a larger scale, she founded Neisha Christine Consulting, LLC (dba Neisha’s Voice), a company providing individualized domestic violence education training, violence prevention and intervention program development consulting, and public motivational speaking. Neisha’s unwavering dedication to ending domestic violence and her passion for helping others is the driving force behind her motto, “I will NOT shut up!”.
