Dale first began using Percocet to address the pain of an injury caused in an accident. After his recovery, he continued using Percocet and became addicted. His substance use had a negative impact on his life. He began spending time with the wrong crowd and was eventually sent to prison for illegal possession. However, he credits his time in the justice system with helping him address his substance use.

Prior to his release, Dale was introduced to Volunteer of America Chesapeake & Carolinas’ Residential Reentry Center in Baltimore where our staff helped him transition home.
Our staff also helped Dale get connected to substance use recovery services. He is now 4 years sober.
But Dale’s relationship with VOACC didn’t end there. Later that same year, Dale received training and employment connections he needed to start his new life.
He successfully secured his CDL Class B credentials and as of May 2021 has been gainfully employed as a driver from the Charm City Circulator in Baltimore.
