What is Operation Backpack®?

Operation Backpack® is Volunteers of America Chesapeake & Carolinas’ (VOACC) annual initiative to fill in the gap for our region’s most vulnerable children. From July 1, 2024 to September 7, 2024 communities across Maryland, the District of Columbia, Virginia and North Carolina have partnered to help provide brand-new backpacks and school supplies to 4,000+ homeless and underprivileged children in .

At VOACC, we know that it takes more than supplies for kids and young adults to succeed in school. That’s why Operation Backpack® works to address other barriers to long-term success by also raising funds to provide academic enrichment opportunities, computers, school uniforms, grocery store gift cards, gas cards and utility assistance to students and families. Together, we can help ensure more kids achieve success despite their circumstances.
